Tompkins partnered with the City of Seagraves to refurbish its aging wastewater treatment plant, upgrading key systems for improved efficiency, reliability, and environmental compliance. This USDA-funded project encompassed comprehensive upgrades led by Tompkins, covering design, bidding, construction administration, permitting, surveying, and resident project representation. These improvements ensure the facility meets modern standards and supports Seagraves’ long-term wastewater management needs.

The project included the replacement of outdated equipment with a new mechanical clarifier, concrete aeration basin, sludge pumps, and an enhanced lift station, boosting treatment capacity and operational efficiency. Additionally, Tompkins upgraded the electrical systems and modified existing sludge drying beds, adding two more beds to expand sludge management capacity. The installation of a bar screen and grinder further protects downstream equipment, enhancing the facility’s overall performance.

To ensure safe storage and discharge, Tompkins designed a lined effluent storage lagoon and developed a non-public access irrigation area for treated effluent. This sustainable land application system allows for safe effluent reuse, supporting responsible water management. These upgrades collectively improve Seagraves’ wastewater infrastructure, aligning it with current regulatory standards and environmental sustainability goals.
